A Toronto cop accused of leaking information about an Ontario corrections officer to a “key figure” of Toronto’s criminal network for the purpose of murdering him has been denied bail.

Const. Timothy Barnhardt was remanded into custody following his bail hearing. Barnhardt, 56, is facing a total of 17 charges in connection with the investigation, dubbed Project South.
York Regional Police identified a number of suspects, including the Toronto police officers allegedly involved. Several other civilian suspects were also identified by police. Their charges include conspiracy to commit murder, possession of a prohibited firearm, with ammunition, and disguise with intent.
They include:

- Robert Black – Toronto Police Service sergeant
- John Madeley (Sr.) – Toronto Police Service constable (retired)
- John Madeley (Jr.) – Toronto Police Service constable
- Carl Grellette – Toronto Police Service sergeant
- Saurabjit Bedi – Toronto Police Service constable
- Derek McCormick – Toronto Police Service constable
- Elias Mouawad – Toronto Police Service constable

Seven current Toronto police officers and one retired member have been named as suspects in a complex conspiracy which allegedly sought to murder an Ontario correctional officer. The arrests are linked to Project South, a lengthy investigation into organized crime and corruption by York Regional Police.

Const. Timothy Barnhardt, 56, of Mississauga, is facing a total of 17 charges, the most of all cops. Barnhardt has been charged with peace officer accepting a bribe, breach of trust by public officer, unauthorized use of a computer and conspiracy to obstruct justice, as well as drug-trafficking-related and firearm-related charges.
Cops discovered that Const. Derek McCormick stole personal property from a police facility. McCormick, 57, of Toronto, has been charged with six offences: breach of trust by public officer, obstruction of justice and four counts of theft under $5,000. Cops have since recovered a “substantial amount” of stolen property, including driver’s licences, health cards, passports and other personal identification documents.
Const. Saurabjit Bedi, 38, faces six charges including peace officer conspiracy to accept a bribe, traffic in substance, conspiracy to commit public mischief – falsely accuse person, and two counts of conspiracy to obstruct justice. Bedi was assigned to 12 Division, and has served Toronto Police for 12 years.
Sgt. Robert Black, 42, is facing four charges. He has been charged with conspiracy to obstruct justice, counsel an uncommitted indictable offence: fraud exceeding $5,000, and possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine and Adderall.
Sgt. Carl Grellete 49, of Vaughan, is facing a total of four charges, including conspiracy to obstruct justice, breach of trust by a public officer, mischief not exceeding $5,000 and harassment by repeated following of another person. He has served the Toronto Police Service for 19 years and was assigned to 12 Division.

Brian Da Costa, was involved in a “sophisticated” drug-trafficking operation, responsible for the exportation of cannabis and fentanyl. Cops seized 169 pounds of cannabis and one pound of fentanyl, which was destined for a European location. 4 of the eight former and current Toronto police officers, Const. Timothy Barnhardt, Sgt. Robert Black, Const. Saurabjit Bedi and Sgt. Carl Grellette were involved in an operation “orchestrated” by Da Costa. They supported illegal cannabis dispensaries by accepting bribes to provide, ultimately, protection from law enforcement investigation.

Toronto cops leaked personal information to criminals who then carried out shootings. “Over a 36 hour period, a number of suspects attended this member’s home in York Region, we allege for the purpose of murdering him.”

Three men, masked and armed with a loaded handgun, returned to the officer’s home and rammed a police cruiser that was in the driveway.
Brian Da Costa, an organized crime figure in the GTA, ordered the hit on the correctional officer using information supplied by Toronto cop Timothy Barnhardt, 56, of Mississauga. That information was passed to thugs who were tasked with carrying out the hit. Almar Heath, 28 of Toronto and two youths were arrested at the scene and charged with conspiracy to commit murder. Kaejean Doman, 23 of Innisfil, Median Jackson, 32 of Mississauga and Devonte Barker-Campbell, 31 of Toronto are facing conspiracy to commit murder charges. Their information passed to them by Toronto Police Constable Timothy Barnhardt. Four of the cops charged have been suspended without pay.
