Canadian ‘beer’ kills NZ man – Azizdeep Singh Sidhu

Azizdeep Singh Sidhu of Surrey was the sole Director of Petrichor Beverages Inc. – the Canadian company that shipped 29,000 cans of meth laced Honey Bear beer that killed NZ man Aiden Sagala, 21.

Sandhu denied being the director of Petrichor, or being involved with the Honey Bear beer shipment or meth. He said he’s a truck driver. He confirmed he used to live at the corporate address in Surrey. He lives in a $1.3m home in Delta. Following a phone call by reporters his phone was blocked and his photo removed from his WhatsApp profile. His Facebook page was locked down – the same profile that includes the quote, “Nothing is illegal until you get caught.” Despite overwhelming evidence, he wasn’t charged.

New Zealand man Aiden Sagala, 21, didn’t know the beer his boss gifted him in 2023 was filled with liquid meth. He fell into a coma and died five days after swallowing a mouthful. Cause of death was multiple organ failure from a lethal dose of methamphetamine. Once New Zealand police began investigating Sagala’s death, their case led them to a storage unit in Auckland which they raided. Cops discovered over 700 kg of liquid methamphetamine.

Aiden’s boss, a man named Himatjit “Jimmy” Kahlon, was captured on security camera removing cases of tainted beer. Kahlon then gave away the excess cans that actually contained beer, accidentally leaving some that were still full of liquid methamphetamine in the cases. He was charged with helping process the liquid meth into crystal meth.

Himatjit “Jimmy” Kahlon was sentenced to 21 years in prison for manslaughter and for possession of methamphetamine for supply.
Buckets of reconstitued meth were discovered in the warehouse.

Baltej Singh, owner of a local supermarket, imported large amounts of meth into New Zealand. This included nearly 29,000 cans of the Honey Bear beer from Toronto.

Cops arrested Baltej Singh Agwan at Auckland’s airport. He was on his way to board a flight to Dubai that he booked the same day. Baltej Singh is the son of Sarwan Singh Agwan, the brother of Satwant Singh — one of the Sikh bodyguards, along with Beant Singh, who assassinated former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi at her residence on October 31, 1984. He was convicted in NZ after the meth bust and sentenced to 22 years in prison.

4 Auckland properties worth $36m have been seized as a result of ‘Operation Lavender’.

Canada is flooding New Zealand with meth. From 2020 to 2024, New Zealand seized more meth from Canada than from any other country, 1,200 kilograms with an estimated street value of about $350m. In 2024, Canada topped the list for meth seizures in New Zealand, with 174 seized shipments.

Virtually all of the Sandher Crime Family’s meth output was bound for New Zealand and Australia.
