Hells Angels bikers have been stopped in Quebec for wearing patches.
In April, Quebec passed Bill 13. That prohibits wearing “a symbol, such as an emblem, insignia or a representation,” used by an entity with a criminal purpose. “In the incident in question, the individuals involved were asked to cover the prohibited symbols in order to comply with the law,” said SPAL spokesperson Mélanie Mercille.
It was the first time in Quebec that the law was applied. The bikers in question covered their vests with jackets and rode off.
Those wearing patches can receive fines of up to $5,000. The Hells Angels South Shore chapter recently removed a banner in front of one of their clubhouses.
