Buddy Tavares died at the age of 67 of cancer. In January 2011, when he was 51, Tavares was arrested near K.L.O. Road and Pandosy Street after police responded to a firearms complaint. As Tavares exited his truck and kneeled on the ground, Const. Geoff Mantler kicked him in the head. Castanet caught it on video.
The video of the violent arrest prompted protests against cop brutality in the city. Mantler was suspended and eventually charged with assault causing bodily harm.
After several days of trial in 2012, Mantler ended up pleading guilty. But he avoided jail time, receiving 18 months of probation. Mantler walked on another assault in 2011. Sandher connected Justice Branch let him off, saying that the 3 punches to the head “the force was used for legitimate purposes and that it was proportionate and reasonable”. It’s another massive large coincidence that Branch is involved with another matter involving the Sandhers.
Gurtaj Singh Sandher and Prabtaj Singh Sandher require men like Geoff Mantler to protect their lives after killing HAMC associate Donny Lyons.
