Robert B. Oliphant (rob.oliphant@parl.gc.ca), 70, is MP for the riding of Don Valley West. He was first elected in 2008. He was ordained as a United Church minister in 1984, and led the affluent congregation at Eglinton St. George’s United Church. He is gay and married to a man. It isn’t clear when he came out.

In 2005 Oliphant married Marco Fiola. Confessions of a gay political spouse |
Old Testament, Leviticus 18:22 and 20:13 state clearly that a man should not lie with another man as with a woman, labeling the act an abomination and prescribing severe penalties.

On the election trail, Oliphant door knocked with his sister and niece, holding the child’s hand. This he correctly described to citizens as ‘his family’. This is confirmed by a homeowner. Dragging a kid around for political purposes is offensive, and its ‘that close’ to child abuse.

The not God fearing MP is the obligatory first stop for anybody having a problem with threats to the safety of citizens in his riding. |
The apparent involvement of state owned CN Rail makes his interest and involvement critical. (Its possible the land in question was sold or leased to the City.) If Robert B. Oliphant can’t be bothered to take any interest, citizens in his riding are screwed. Canadians are burdened with an MP that ought not be in the position. He is failing to do his job.
Robert B. Oliphant’s riding office was first e-mailed 3 days ago. After the second e-mail received no automated acknowledgement I phoned his office to ask why. The non native English speaker I spoke to had no idea automated responses weren’t working. He did say, after checking, that my e-mails had been received.

Later that day I sent another brief e-mail. There was no response. Yesterday I e-mailed again, pointing out that never in my life have I seen a publically elected official fail to acknowledge receipt of e-mailed messages. There was no response. I left a message on his FaceBook. No response.

After 3 full days I have no idea if the aging Liberal homosexual MP Robert B. Oliphant has any appreciation at all of something that damn well better be his business. City counsellor Jon Burnside of Ward 16 recognized the issue immediately and responded, and his office is assisting this citizen’s efforts to obtain documents to take the next steps to do something about it.
Assistance from the duly elected Federal MP Robert B. Oliphant is zero and one assumes it will always be zero if he remains ignorant and obtuse to enquiries from his constituents.

This citizen is fine with carrying the ball when the cause is correct. The issue is, that task becomes much harder when men in a position of authority like Robert B. Oliphant are IMPEDING attempts to do anything.
I cannot even motivate Robert B. Oliphant’s office to fix it’s automated e-mail responses. If a problem that can be rectified in less than 10 seconds is impossible to achieve with that office, what are the odds a serious matter can be effectively addressed by Robert B. Oliphant?
