Quebec Justice Jocelyne Gagné delays Humboldt killer deportation

Federal Court judge Jocelyne Gagné has granted a last-minute stay of deportation for former truck driver and Humboldt Broncos killer, Jaskirat Singh Sidhu. The admitted killer temporarily prevented his removal from Canada just days before he was to be sent back to Punjab.

Sidhu was behind the wheel of the semi-truck that blew through an oversized stop sign with a flashing yellow lights and into the path of the junior hockey team’s bus on April 6, 2018.

The collision killed 16 and injured 13 others. In 2019, Sidhu was sentenced to eight years in prison for 16 counts of dangerous driving causing death and 13 counts of dangerous driving causing bodily harm. He was granted full parole in 2023. Sidhu was scheduled to be deported and board a plane for India early Monday morning as the convicted killer he is. Instead, the Punjabi remains here, contrary to law and justice. We may Thank Justice Jocelyne Gagné for that.
