Kevin Kielty – 90 illegal Mexicans in Banff – frequent flyer

Barrie man Kevin Kielty has been fined $70k and sentenced to two years of probation and 50 hours of community service after scores of Mexicans were found illegally working in the Banff area.

90 foreign nationals from Mexico were working illegally in four resort hotels in the Banff and Jasper area. Kevin Kielty is the owner of labour agency One Team.

The agency targeted non-documented workers via social media, such as Facebook groups for Mexicans in Toronto. Workers were transported from Ontario to Alberta.

This is Kielty’s second conviction with no penalty under immigration law. He was previously sentenced to an 18-month conditional sentence and house arrest in November 2023. That slap on the wrist didn’t even slow him down.

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) and RCMP launched an investigation into Kielty’s suspected illegal immigration activity in June 2022, eventually identifying a group of people travelling from Ontario to Alberta to work illegally in the hospitality industry in Banff National Park.

“Further investigation identified an additional 90 foreign nationals from Mexico working illegally in four resort hotels in the Banff and Jasper area,” the CBSA said in a news release.
