Christiane Fox, top public servant at DND, guilty of nepotism

Press have reported on the jaw-dropping activites of high level bureaucrat Christiane Fox (Christiane.fox@forces.gc.ca). We go one step better, providing the gory report itself. Here.

Photo of Björn Charles from recently deleted LinkedIn profile. With no skills whatever, he is still employed by taxpayers in an 85k+ per year position.

Charles worked as a manager at Goodlife gym before running to Christiane Fox for employment opportunities, twice.

” … in early March 2023, Björn Charles contacted Ms. Fox, whom he knew from when they were both athletes at the same university, about possibly working for IRCC. At Ms. Fox’s invitation, he sent her his résumé.”

The details of how far Christiane Fox went to have her friend hired by taxpayers (twice) at high classifications is beyond the pale. This woman would have to be denser than a brick to not suppose she was acting improperly.

“Once hired, Charles struggled with tasks assigned to him, and was “struggling to understand the subject matter and was underperforming in what was being asked of him,”

“I concluded that Ms. Fox used her position as Deputy Minister to give Mr. Charles preferential treatment, by ensuring he met with departmental officials quickly, seeking updates about his hiring, giving him internal information, and pushing for a higher job classification. As the Commissioner’s Office has noted in previous examination reports, giving someone preferential treatment is, in itself, improper. I therefore found that Ms. Fox contravened section 9 of the Conflict of Interest Act.”

Christiane Fox is the perfect example of the ‘Peter Principal’ in action. A part of that suggests individuals eventually rise to the level that requires skills they lack, making them completely useless and ineffective. Christiane Fox was promoted past her IQ level, and this is the result. Christiane Fox needs to be fired not for hiring her friend, she needs to go for her obvious ethical deficiencies. She is and always was incompetent for the role she found herself in.

The REAL burner is Christiane Fox’s bullshit regarding ethics. Fox’s ethics violation took place in the same year that she sat on a deputy minister task team on values and ethics inside the public service.
