The Calgary pair busted with 8 kg of fentanyl have seen their charges stayed. Kunwardeep Singh was granted bail in Swift Current provincial court February 20 on a $25k bond. He is under a curfew and can’t leave Calgary. There is a publication ban. Swati Narula, 26, was sprung March 4 on a $10k bond. 17.5 pounds of pure fentanyl was found hidden under the spare tire of their car. That is likely over 5 million doses.

Busted are Calgary residents Kunwardeep Singh, 28 and Swati Narula, 26. Singh and Narula were each handed one count of trafficking a controlled substance and one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking. The pair are described as ‘a couple’.

This case is similar to Project Ollie, the OPP’s Border Drug Interdiction Task Force identified an alleged network trafficking fentanyl between the Greater Toronto Area and Calgary. A search warrant executed February 10 at a Brampton residence yielded 18 kg of fentanyl — equivalent, police said, to roughly 180,000 potentially lethal doses. 3 were arrested: Navjot Singh, 20, of Brampton; Attarvir Singh, 23, of Calgary, arrested in Winnipeg on a Canada-wide warrant; and Balwinder Singh, 21, of Calgary. A fourth bum, Manpreet Singh, 21, of Calgary, remains at large on a Canada-wide warrant.
