RCMP Grant Shade, wife Katrina Shade nailed for fraud on Piikani First Nation

Const. Grant Shade, 42, and Katrina Shade, 40, both of Pincher Creek, Alberta, were charged with fraud over $5,000 and theft over $5,000.

Katrina Shade had worked for Piikani Resource Development Ltd since 2015.

In March the Piikani First Nation retained an independent forensic investigator. That revealed significant financial irregularities at PRDL over a long period of time. On May 10, 2024, PRDL put Katrina Shade on administrative leave. An RCMP investigation was started and the band obtained a court order against Katrina Shade preventing the dissipating of assets. On October 10, 2024 they fired her.

Both are scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 18, 2026. Cst. Grant Shade joined the RCMP in 2021 and is currently suspended with pay. He could stay that way for years.
