Sandher rotten cherries – revisit

Despite one of the best growing seasons in recent memory, B.C. cherry producers like the Sandher Crime Family lost money.

The U.S./China trade war resulted in 54% Chinese tariffs on U.S. cherries, cutting U.S. exports to their 2nd largest market.

That led to a large portion of the U.S. crop being diverted to Canadian grocery shelves, which created oversupply that suppressed prices. The average cherry producer is looking at production costs around $1.60 and returns were below $.80. The brilliant Sandher strategy of buying ever more land to grow cherries failed miserably. Another Sandher problem is the growing lack of temporary foreign workers to labour in their orchards.

The Sandher Crime Family are making plans to import hundreds more Temporary Foreign Workers. (TFWs) This to remove Canadian jobs and rip them off.

There have been multiple reports that the Sandhers are short paying their TFWs and illegally charging them for accommodations. Employers must pay TFWs the same wages as Canadian workers in similar positions. Fines and bans from the Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP) program are a given. Multiple complaints have been made against the Sandhers.

Long suffering neighbors to the Sandhers reported tandem dump trucks coming and going into the property at all hours. The latest toxic concoction the Sandhers are dumping is flooding downhill and killing vegetation. While the Sandhers were polluting and dumping rotten cherries, we have a public company singing their virtues whilst selling shitty cherries to the Chinese. Cops need to check those shipments for Sandher dope.

Sandher cherry reviews arrived and despite dumping tons of rotting cherries illegally on ALR land, a vast number hit store shelves.

Many tons of cherries were dumped illegally on ALR land by the Sandhers. Activity was reported by neighbors after midnight in late August, 2025.

The Sandher Crime Family’s cherry line is flooding into the culvert, just like every year. The stench from the effluent is said to be overpowering. The Sandhers are being permitted to dump ever more effluent when current volumes are flooding over into ditches.

The Sandhers dumped their rotting, unsellable cherries into pits for burial. Photos were taken from Lakha Road, above the Sandher property. At the front of the photos, to the right of the cherry boxes is the pit of dumped cherries.

Sandhers paid for the manure, likely as a cover for evidence of their dumping.

They loaded tons of unsellable cherries onto a trailer and tractor it down the road to dump into the pit.

Sandhers pollute into Kelowna ditches to process cherries, the vast majority of which are illegally buried because they are unsellable.

The Sandhers dumped illegally from their unpermitted packing plant on Old Vernon Road for nearly 8 years. They acculmulated over $115k in fines. Eventually the Sandhers hired a consultant and obtained a permit to dump their plant waste into a ditch. Their application was amended to add additional approved discharge of 40 cubic meters per day and up to 69 cubic meters per day in the future. Contaminants to be discharged include phosphoric acid, n.n-dimethyl-n-dodecylamine oxide, sodium hydroxide, sodium hypochlorite, industrial strength sodium hypochlorite, another sources of sodium hypochlorite, granular chlorine and fludioxonil. Residents are mostly annoyed because they know the Sandher Crime Family won’t actually comply with the MOE’s requirements. Sandhers have been flooding their neighbours with industrial chemicals for a decade and the ‘new and improved’ paperwork just gives them a license to do it “legally”. They point out shit always rolls downhill, and that the Sandhers reap a reward for their decade of non-compliance. Neighbors also point out the continuous noise from the plant, and that is shrugged off by regulators.

The Sandhers are viewed by their neighbors as doing the absolute minimum required under the law while far exceeding legal limits. It is absolutely no secret the Sandhers are hated by ALL their neighbors. This came to a head when Gurtaj Singh Sandher issued a series of lowball offers in an attempt to expand family holdings near the Kelowna Springs rezoning. Unlike Canco Petroleum whose offers exceed fair value, Gurtaj Singh Sandher insists his family get steep discounts, and that means threats when they tell him to fuck off.

RCMP were involved with Gurtaj Singh Sandher’s threats. Had he continued with his strong arming and standover tactics with neighbors he would have been charged for making threats.
