Another Globe report has hit, behind a paywall<\/a> as usual. AHS received a production order according to a transcript of a legal proceeding filed in court on Monday. This means Dani Panama is required to provide authorities with records relevant to criminal investigations.<\/p>\n

To obtain a production order, cops must convince a judge or justice of the peace there are reasonable grounds to believe an offence has been committed. That bar has been met.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\"\"<\/td>\n\u201cWe received the production order,\u201d Dr. Fagarasanu said on June 10.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Dr. Fagarasanu was the acting senior vice-president for corporate and clinical support services at Alberta Health Services when he swore his affidavit. This is the first public confirmation that police are now directly probing Alberta Health Services.<\/p>\n

Heather Jenkins, a spokeswoman for Alberta Justice Minister Mickey Amery, directed questions about Fagarasanu\u2019s statements to taxpayer paid for lawyer Munaf Mohamed. (mohamedm@bennettjones.com) \u201cMy client does not have any comment at this time,\u201d Mohamed said.<\/p>\n

“In March, the Mounties executed multiple search warrants related to their investigation. Police searched MHCare\u2019s headquarters in Edmonton and Jaberson & Associates, a tax preparation firm owned by Sam Jaber, who served as MHCare\u2019s chief financial officer. The RCMP also attended the home of Jitendra Prasad.” The Globe subsequently revealed Sam Jaber had no accounting credentials while claiming otherwise.<\/p>\n

The Globe reported that a special prosecutor from Ontario has been assigned. This tells us the RCMP’s case is closer to the end than the beginning.<\/p>\n

It has taken some time, but justice is finally coming for Dani Panama and Sam Mraiche. As far as Alberta taxpayers getting the $59m back that Mraiche stole, there’s no sign of that anytime soon.<\/p>\n
