The attorney general serves as the chief legal adviser to the government and is responsible for overseeing the province\u2019s prosecution services. There is a long history of incompetent Alberta politicos in the position.<\/p>\n<table><Tr><\/p>\n<td><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/gangsterismout.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Screenshot-2026-01-16-143826.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"268\" \/><\/td>\n<td>Kaycee Madu resumed working as a lawyer after his defeat in the 2023 Alberta election.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/gangsterismout.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/NagendranMaduMraiche.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" \/><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/table>\n<p>Former provincial justice minister Kaycee Madu was reprimanded by the law society in February 2025. As justice minister in 2021, he phoned Edmonton&#8217;s police chief after receiving a traffic ticket. It&#8217;s reported he wanted it &#8216;fixed&#8217;. Madu is appealing the law society decision and fine. <\/p>\n<table>\n<tr>\n<td><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/gangsterismout.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Screenshot-2026-01-16-145216.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"268\" \/><\/td>\n<p><Td><br \/>\nMadu\u2019s successor as minister of justice, Tyler Shandro, also faced a law society proceeding, though that came from incidents during his time as health minister.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/table>\n<p>He was found not guilty of unprofessional conduct, in large part because it was concluded he wasn\u2019t acting as a lawyer during the infractions. Shandro served as the Minister of Justice and Attorney General for Alberta from 2022 until 2023. Tyler Shandro (then Minister of Health) gifted Mraiche his first sweetheart procurement deal in 2020 for substandard Chinese PPE.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/gangsterismout.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Screenshot-2026-01-16-144802.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"268\"\/><br \/>\nA third Alberta justice minister, Jonathan Denis, was also sanctioned for professional misconduct citations after he left government. Jonathan Denis who was Alberta&#8217;s justice minister in 2014, is accused of multiple infractions, including &#8216;threatening&#8217; a witness who was mid-testimony in a lawsuit in 2022. The rule of law applies to everyone, including attorneys general who are licensed lawyers. Granting them immunity without explaining why invites speculation as to motivation. What are they responding to? What are they concerned about? Edmonton lawyer Moira Rose Vane says she and another lawyer were informed Tuesday that the Law Society of Alberta had removed them from the board of the Alberta Law Foundation. The entire law foundation staff gave two weeks\u2019 notice Jan. 5 in response to Bill 14, which gives the minister more power over how the law foundation is governed.
