\nSaskatoon’s permanent student Alicia Yashachen has many claims to fame. On May 15, 2009, Yashcheshen made a complaint to the Saskatchewan Human Rights Commission about University of Regina. She then went to First Nations University, where she graduated with a B.A. in justice studies in the fall of 2011. In 2011 she filed a lawsuit against the University of Regina. Among many other things, she said the university violated her human rights by failing to accommodate her Crohn\u2019s disease.

\nIn 2018 the self-represented litigant sought $63k from the Province because she was denied free pot. She sued two provincial ministries and the Attorney General of Saskatchewan seeking to have taxpayers pay for her pot stash. She claimed Crohn\u2019s Disease again. “if I had more, I could achieve a sense of remission” she claimed. She sued after earlier appeals board decisions denied her welfare coverage. Welfare covered the monthly cost of Yashcheshen\u2019s special dietary needs, but not her pot stash. She lost in 2020, and then appealed. It was eventually dismissed.<\/p>\n

In 2019 Yashcheshen sued Janssen Inc. and Johnson & Johnson Inc. over their painkillers, which she got herself addicted to. She claimed they failed to warn her about the risks associated with Tramacet. \u201cIt killed the pain, but it also gave me a high \u2013 like a euphoric feeling. Day by day, I was needing more and more. I was taking upwards of 40 to 50 pills a day,\u201d the addict said. She got simultaneous prescriptions from multiple doctors. She sued the manufacturers of Tramacet for more than $2m for her ‘pain and suffering’. She appealed an order striking her statement of claim, which exceeded the applicable two-year limitation period. After three prior adjournments, she walked out of the courtroom claiming illness. <\/p>\n\n\n

The judge said her claims were the very definition of a vexatious pleading.\u00a0 Her appeal was dismissed.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/table>\n

Alicia Yashcheshen applied for admission to the College of Law at the University of Saskatchewan in 2019, but sought an exemption from writing the standard law school admission test, the LSAT. She demanded a seat close to the ladies’ room and \u201cstop the clock\u201d testing. She also demanded to use pot during testing and breaks. Denied, she sued the law school for discrimination. The Court dismissed Yashcheshen’s application. She appealed, alleging a Charter breach, together with bias by the law school dean. That was dismissed in 2023 with the woman assessed $1,700 in costs. After plugging the system with multiple simultaneous applications, she was also declared a vexatious litigant.<\/p>\n
